ABOUT ME

MY STORY

the short version

I thought crying in a locker room
meant I wasn't elite athlete worthy.

I was wrong.
And that realization
changed everything — for me,
and for every athlete I work with today.

ABOUT ME

THE ATHLETE

I lived inside the same pattern
your athlete is living in right now.

Ten years of professional basketball in the Dutch Eredivisie. Five years representing the Netherlands on the national team. By any measure, an elite career.

And yet — I can still take you back to a specific locker room at halftime. My coach was screaming. I was crying. And despite everything I'd already achieved, all I could think was: "this is proof. I am not elite athlete worthy."

I went out and played one of the best halves of my career. I couldn't see that either.

That was the pattern. Never enough. Not ruthless enough. My brain never stopped — I wasn't just thinking about the game, I was thinking about everything around it. Nobody around me had a name for that. So I carried it alone, and called it a weakness.

It wasn't. It was waiting to become my greatest asset. I just didn't know how yet.

I was spending more time inside my head
than I ever spent on the court.

THE TURN

The work that changed me
started with other people's children.

After my playing career I trained in emotional development coaching and constellations work — a systemic approach that makes visible what's invisible. What's blocking a child. Where it came from. What it needs.

One moment has stayed with me. A mother brought in her son — furious, explosive, impossible to reach. In the intake, she told me it was fine for him to be angry. But watching them together, I could see she had no idea what to do when the anger actually showed up. Children feel that, even when it's never said out loud.

So I sat with her — not the boy — and we talked about her own relationship with anger. Using constellations work, things surfaced she'd never connected to her son. She left able to handle it differently. And her son, without me ever addressing it with him directly, became calmer.

That's the root. That's what I mean when I say I don't manage the pattern — I find where it lives. It worked. Consistently.

THE PHONE CALL

Then one morning, a friend called.

She was looking at a course — systemic work with elite athletes. They needed one more person. Before I'd finished processing what she was saying, I heard myself say: "I'm that person."

That course was a room full of brainy, sensitive elite athletes — high performers who felt everything deeply and had spent their careers believing that was a weakness to hide, rather than a strength to understand.

"It's like an AA meeting. These people understand me," one of them said. That's exactly what it was.

And in that room, something stopped me cold: the things I'd experienced as a professional athlete were still impacting me — daily, years after my last game.

That was the moment Full Focus Athlete was born.

THE MISSION

Your athlete's mind is not in the way.
It's waiting to become their greatest asset.

The athletes I work with are often ashamed of their head — ashamed it affects them, ashamed it shows up at the worst moments. They shouldn't be. Not for a single second.

Mental resilience doesn't need to be complicated or hidden. Addressing what you feel doesn't make you weaker — it's the only thing that makes you free.

I work with elite athletes aged 13 to 26 who are talented, driven, and stuck — not because they don't work hard enough, but because something is stored in the body and nervous system that shows up at the worst possible moment, and nobody has ever gone there with them before.

I go there. Not with tricks. Not with coping strategies that last until the next big game. At the root — where the pattern actually lives.

GIVE IT A SERIOUS TRY

If any of this sounds familiar —
that's not a coincidence.

The athletes I work with best
are the ones who feel deeply,
think constantly,
and have spent years believing
that's what's holding them back.

It's not.
And I'd love to show them that.
